Terms of Service
Last updated: May 5, 2026
These terms govern your use of CommonFranchise (the “Site”), operated by Mission Ctrl. By creating an account, claiming a brand, or submitting an application you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Site.
What CommonFranchise is — and isn't
CommonFranchise is a data platform that organizes public Franchise Disclosure Documents into structured information and connects prospective franchisees with brands they apply to.
CommonFranchise is not:
- A franchisor. We do not offer or sell franchises.
- A registered franchise broker. We do not collect referral or success-based compensation when a franchise agreement is signed.
- A provider of legal, financial, accounting, or investment advice. Nothing on the Site is a substitute for a franchise attorney or a CPA.
Read each franchisor’s current FDD directly from the franchisor before making any commitment.
Accounts
You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for keeping your credentials secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Site, submit false information, or violate these terms.
Applicant terms
When you submit an application to a brand, you authorize us to share the profile snapshot you submitted with that brand so they can evaluate fit. You can withdraw an application from your account; the receiving brand will be notified the application is no longer active.
Don’t submit applications on behalf of someone else, don’t fabricate financial qualifications, and don’t use the Site to evade a franchise registration or filing requirement.
Brand terms
By claiming a brand you represent that you are authorized to do so by the franchisor. Verification may include checks against the brand’s FDD Item 1 (Issuer) and Item 2 (Franchise Sellers) records, or via a confirmation email to the registered FDD contact.
Brand customers receive applicant data only via the applicant-initiated apply flow. Use of applicant data is limited to evaluating, contacting, and qualifying applicants for franchise opportunities you actually offer. You may not resell applicant data, share it with third parties without a valid lawful basis, or use it for unrelated solicitation.
Editorial content on the Site — rankings, comparisons, brand pages, methodology — is not for sale. See our editorial integrity policy for what brand customers can and can’t buy.
Acceptable use
Don’t scrape the Site at industrial scale, attempt to re-identify anonymized data, probe for vulnerabilities outside our security disclosure channel, or use the Site to harass anyone. We reserve the right to throttle, block, or terminate access for abuse.
Intellectual property
Our methodology, editorial content, design, and software are owned by Mission Ctrl. FDD content remains the property of the franchisors who file it; we present extracted facts under fair-use principles applicable to public regulatory filings. You may link to and quote brand pages with attribution.
Disclaimers
The Site is provided “as is.” We try to make our data accurate, but extraction from PDFs is imperfect and FDDs are themselves complex documents. We don’t guarantee that any specific number on the Site is current, complete, or correct. If you spot an error, email corrections@commonfranchise.com and we’ll respond.
We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither Mission Ctrl nor its affiliates are liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Site. Our aggregate liability for any claim related to the Site is limited to the greater of $100 USD or the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Mission Ctrl from claims arising out of your misuse of the Site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any applicable franchise-disclosure or consumer-protection law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Delaware, except where applicable consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring the dispute in your home jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page and (for account holders) communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

Counsel review of these terms is in progress. We may revise specific clauses (notably governing-law and limitation-of-liability language, plus state-specific applicant-data clauses) as that review concludes.
